Breakfast at Wild Food Cafe, Bowral NSW

The Southern Highlands of NSW is such a beautiful place to visit. A one and a half hour easy drive south of Sydney, transports you into another world.

Lush countryside, beautiful gardens, gorgeous old weatherboard cottages, historical sites & heritage villages, known for their old worlde charm.

Amongst it all is some integral food producers, farmers markets and great places to eat out.
On an unexpected visit to the town of Bowral about 18 months ago now, I discovered in the main street of town Wild Food Natural Health Market, an amazing store selling organic fruit and vegetables, groceries, including meat, dairy and deli products. There is also a Naturopath dispensary and the Wild Food Cafe.

We passed through Bowral after picking up our youngest son from a holiday camp, a long way from home, just a little earlier than planned or anticipated. The upside of this was, Jake and I had a special breakfast at Wild Food Cafe together and it was a wonderful experience.
I have visited Bowral twice since then, once for a "Girl's Weekend Away" with my sister and our daughter's in October last year and then again in January this year on our way to the NSW South Coast. I do love the town of Bowral and each time I have stopped there, we've had a lovely breakfast at Wild Food Cafe.
The Market and Cafe are open seven days, the Market opens from 8am to 6pm, whilst the Cafe is open 8am to 5pm Mon - Fri, until 4pm on Saturday & Sunday, and also re opens Friday and Saturday nights for Wild Nights Dinner from 6pm.

The Market stocks a large selection of Organic Fruit and Vegetables.

There is also an abundant range of organic groceries, including many products from local producers.

The Cafe has both an indoor and outdoor seating area.
The decor is really clean and modern with a wild jungle theme.

There are large leaves painted on walls and shelving units, colourful cushions and little monkey's on each table for the table numbers.

The staff are extremely friendly, the food is fresh and delicious, you can enjoy fresh juices & fruit smoothies, sumptuous cakes and I have been assured the coffee is great too!

Here is a selection of the breakfast fare we've sampled on our three visits!
Organic Scrambled Eggs with Roasted Tomato on Wholemeal Grain Toast $15

Ricotta Cheese Blintz
Pillows of Ricotta with a hint of citrus wrapped in Organic crepes served with fresh fruit $15

Eggs Benedict
Poached Eggs with your choice of Bacon, Tazzie Smoked Salmon or Florentine(baby spinach leaves), with our luscious Wild Hollandaise Sauce. $17

with Bacon

with Spinach

Cinnamon French Toast with Fresh Organic Fruit and Canadian Maple syrup $12

There were many other great choices we are yet to try, such as Organic Wild Muesli, Grilled Polenta and Organic Mushrooms with Roast Capsicum and Feta, Wild Omelet of your choice or Buckwheat Crepes with Bacon and/or Fresh Organic Fruit served with Canadian Maple Syrup.
This cafe is serving great food, which is good for you and it's great value! You definitely would find it worth stopping at, next time you visit or pass through the lovely town of Bowral.
We also visited Bowral Public School Farmers Market,
Bendooley Street Bowral NSW, which are held the second Saturday of every month.
